Like the song says: “I think it’s too personal. That’s what I got Twitter for.” Twitter is the place where sharing your personal opinions in any way, shape or form is the usual. Want to share a quote, video or image? Go for it! What to comment on another person’s tweet or retweet it? Easy-peasy.
Worried about overusing Twitter and posting too often? Not likely. This isn’t like Instagram or Facebook. You won’t irritate anyone will a plethora of tweets. They fly by so quickly on Twitter feeds that the more, the merrier.
In our everyday life, we love expressing ourselves. Our minds are usually swirling with thoughts and we need a place to express ourselves. Twitter is one of Teen Mashup’s personal favourite social media apps. Why? Because its therapeutic, entertaining, informative and a great way to connect with others too. Twitter has it all. Or does it?
Teen Mashup has gathered up a list of “improvements” so if you are reading this Dear Twitter Developers, we thank you all for this app but beg of you to take some of these suggestions into consideration.
More Control Over Photo Edits:
When uploading a photo, Twitter allows you to add a canned filter to enhance the image. Don’t get us wrong, we love that cute feature, but wouldn’t it be nice if you could edit the photo with a little bit more control? For example, being able to tone down the filter affect to personalize the image even further? Or, being able to saturate and increase highlights?
Right now, we can add a canned filter, auto-enhance, crop, or add emojis. There is so much that you can do to an image to make it pop; if your image pops so does your tweet. Unfortunately for now we recommend editing your photo in another program first before tweeting it. Check out our post: TEEN MUST HAVES: FUNDAMENTALS APPS FOR YOUR iPHONE for our fave photo enhancing apps.
Speaking of having more control to personalize and customize photos, wouldn’t it be nice to have more of a selection of filters? Rarely do we post the original raw image on our camera roll. Let’s be honest…we edit the heck outta that thing! Having to edit in multiple apps then taking it into Twitter can be time consuming. Wouldn’t it be better to do it all in one place? Twitter has a limited selections of 8 filter options and is in dire need of a face lift.
Increase Maximum Number of Characters:
Ah yes, the biggest complaint of all. Have you ever written a tweet only to reach the maximum character limit, then edited it a gazillion times to make it shorter and in the end, it no longer even resembles what you intended to say in the first place? Been there, done that, A LOT.
Users rant and rave about the 140 character limitations and Teen Mashup gets why. 140 characters simply isn’t enough and for those of you who love Twitter just as much as Teen Mashup does, perhaps you agree? Expressing an opinion (or a rant, joke, or digital marketing blurb) within a 140 character limit can be challenging especially if we also want to add hashtags so our tweet can reach a niche audience. Give us a break, Twitter, or better yet, gives us a larger character limit!
See Who Follows Who:
Most of us consider ourselves social media detectives. We like to snoop around and figure out who follows who. We like to to know as much detail about a certain someone on social media and knowing that latest “follow” or “unfollow” on your idol’s account is pretty interesting. If you want that option, head over to Instagram because this feature simply isn’t available on Twitter.
Seeing Who Follows You:
Obviously we also want to know who follows our account. If our account is private, this is a non-issue as we must approve follower requests. If our account is public, that is an entirely different story. Once we receive the initial notification of a new follower, we can no longer easily access a list of followers (as one does on Instagram).
We <3 Twitter:
Although Teen Mashup really dug deep to see what Twitter is lacking and could possibly improve, Twitter is an amazing social media platform; an incredible place to network and communicate with other internet friends or foes. If you love expressing and sharing your opinions on multiple subjects, and seeing the latest gossip, news, trends and more, Twitter is the app for you. In summary, Teen Mashup loves Twitter, but we feel we could love it a little more if it implemented some key improvements. Let that bluebird sing (a song more than 140 characters long).
