Smashbox Shadow + Highlight Palette Set
The moment fall hits, stores start stocking their holiday palettes! If you don’t act fast, the best ones will be sold out far before the first snowfall; some are already out of stock. There are so many makeup sets to choose from this season so it can be hard to decide which one is worth your hard earned cash or worthy of your holiday gift list. When I saw the new Smashbox Shadow + Highlight Palette set I knew this one was a keeper.
I have used the Cover Shot palettes before and can attest to their outstanding quality. I had been eyeing up the Ablaze palette for quite some time in addition to Casey Holmes’ stunning highlighter trios. When I saw this new holiday set, I didn’t move fast enough and it was sold out at Sephora within a few days.
Fast forward to earlier this week when I found it at my local Shoppers Drug Mart. I didn’t hesitate this time and voila, this post was born and my makeup collection just became a lot more beautiful.
This set includes two full-size Cover Shot Palettes (Ablaze and limited edition Sultry) plus a travel size version of the Spotlight highlighting trio in Pearl. A cute little set of stickers is also included; I intend to use them in my agenda book.
The palette covers are also beautifully designed. Smashbox collaborated with Ana Strumpf, an editorial illustrator who turns photos into new works of art with her playful sketches.
At $48 CAD, this set is an incredible value!
Travel-Size Spotlight Palette in Pearl
The palette includes two shimmer-finish shades, and one mega sparkle shade.
The swatches may look powdery but the highlighters are creamy, wonderfully pigmented and apply beautifully to the skin. These can be worn as eyeshadows, blush toppers or on their own.
Cover Shot Ablaze Palette
8 gorgeous warm shades housed in one perfectly sized portable palette. A blend of finishes and completely inline with the “heat” trend we are seeing this season.
Cover Shot Limited Edition Sultry Palette
This is definitely the cooler palette in the set and is perfect if you love plums or smokey eye looks. This palette felt a bit drier than the Ablaze palette when swatched but both palettes performed wonderfully on the eyes.
Dig It or Dump It?
I am so happy I found this set and snatched it up before it was gone again. The value is incredible and each palette is one I will reach for time and time again. If you purchase one holiday set this year, I recommend it be the Smashbox Shadow + Highlight Set!
